Currently an Adjunct Faculty at the Stanford University, Dr. Russel has an extensive industry-academia experience. After his doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Rochester, Dr. Russel worked in Google for 17 years (2005-23) as Principal UX Researcher. Prior to Google, he worked in Xerox PARC and Apple. His R&D interest spans across design of information experience, sensemaking, intelligent agents, knowledge-based assistance, information visualization, multimedia documents, advanced design and development environments, design rational, intelligent tutoring, hypermedia, human/computer interfaces. “Search” as a field of study and research is his passion on which he has written a widely popular book – “The Joy of Search: A Google Insider’s Guide to Going Beyond the Basics (MIT Press), 2019.
